Transfer Latest: 31st July

Toby Alderweireld
Athletico Madrid - Tottenham (Undisclosed)

A good move for Tottenham. He had a good season at Southampton so is, in a way, a proved centre back in the Premier league which is something Tottenham have been needing for a long time. Alderweireld and Vertonghen could make a decent centre back pairing.

Yohan Cabaye
PSG - Crystal Palace (£10million)

What a fantastic signing this is for Crystal Palace. It may not be so good for Jason Puncheon but Cabaye is a top quality player who could probably make it in a top four team (just). He is a great addition to an exciting Palace team that could benefit from a bit more creativity and quality in the middle of the park.

Marco Van Ginkel
Chelsea - Stoke (loan)

I have not seen much of Van Ginkel since he spent an entire season injured at Chelsea however, presuming he remains un-injured there is no doubt that Stoke have made another quality signing here. With N'Zonzi gone, Van Ginkel should fill that hole in the middle of the field and provide a bit of stability to what is becoming an exciting attack force.

Morgan Schneiderlin
Southampton - Manchester United (£25million)

The much coveted midfielder wanted by man clubs was ultimately courted by Manchester United. An ideal replacement for Michael Carrick, Scnheiderlin has proved hi is capable in the Premier League and ready to test himself at the next level. He has a lot of qualities of Michael Carrick and Schneiderlin should learn a lot from him and this next man.

Bastian Schweinsteiger
Bayern Munich - Manchester United (£14.4million)

A surprising transfer from United but a fantastic one in my opinion. Schweinsteiger is world class. Plain and simple. He may be getting on but he is a winner and a great reader of the game. He will organise that team and should teach Hererra and Schneiderlin a lot. It will be interesting to see how he copes in the Premier league but he won't want to tarnish his reputation by putting in sub-par performances. United also bought up the market of deep midfielders leaving Chelsea and particularly Arsenal wanting.

Matteo Darmian
Torino - Manchester United (£13million)

In the Series A team of the year last season and only £13million, Darmian is a promising talent and a decent signing for United. As always we will see how he adapts but Van Gaal has bought him for his ability to attack and his defensive capabilities all the way across the back line. his height gives them better aerial presence too.

Asmir Begovic
Stoke - Chelsea (£8million)

People have talked about how good a signing Cech to Arsenal was. Well once again I think Chelsea have pulled off one of the best deals of the transfer window. Begovic, one of the Premier League's best goalkeepers, at just 28 years old has moved to Chelsea to knowingly sit on the bench for a £3million profit from Cech. It is great business from Chelsea.

Raheem Sterling
Liverpool - Manchester City (£49million)

I have outlined my thoughts about Sterling in this post and believe that essentially, while his price is excessive I think he will be a good acquisition for them.

Fabian Delph
Aston Villa - Manchester City (£8million)

Perhaps there is a place in the line up for Delph at City but as I said in Fabian Delph: The Decision I don't think this is the right move for him and will be pleasantly surprised if this turns out to be a successful move for both parties.

Christian Benteke
Aston Villa - Liverpool (£32.5million)

I am not sure about Benteke. For Aston Villa he is undoubtedly a loss but his style of play makes it difficult to see whether he will fit in at Liverpool. I think he is an unconventional striker and not the type of a player you want in a possession team. However, he scores goals. I think he will suffice for Liverpool but ultimately be replaced for a tidier and more creative striker.

Ibrahim Affelay
Barcelona - Stoke (Free)

The latest addition to 'Stokealona' I am perhaps not as excited as most as I think he is not too different to a Scot Sinclair or Jack Rodwell based on his career over the last few years. That being said, he obviously has potential and I think a place like Stoke this season is the perfect place to unlock it.

James Chester
Hull - West Brom (£8million)

Strange that West Brom have thrown so much money at him but Pulis is one of the few men I trust to buy a decent defender.
